This chapter examines the changes that occurred in Russia after the outbreak. It discusses the United States' uneasiness about Russian instability, and then looks at the author's return to Yekaterinburg, where she talked about her research on the anthrax epidemic. The chapter reviews the continued secrecy surrounding Compound 19 and her information sources, and, finally, describes her visit to Hospital 40.
