This chapter focuses on the setbacks and frustrations that enveloped the research team after the excursion to Chkalovskiy rayon; identifies some barriers to their research, such as the lack of data; and takes note of some internal conflicts. It reveals some of the team members' desire to arrange a meeting with Dr. Babich, the former SES director who seemed to know more about the outbreak than he let on, and discusses a rather suspicious construction of the outbreak.
