My Father's Land
My Father's Land
Meilin Ching is a half-Chinese/half-Colombian who grew up in the United States. She details the discrimination she experienced during her younger years and tells of how strict her father is with his rules, the strange dishes he cooks, and his high regard for education. Meilin also tells of her experience during her first visit to China, with her family, and her second visit making a special trip to his father's home town. She notes that although her parents' courtship sounds romantic, their marriage was always a big struggle for her, for her parents had many differences of opinion on how their children should be raised.
