This chapter focuses on Ana Pauker's entry into the workers' movement. It explains that Pauker formally became a member of the Romanian Workers' Social Democratic Party (RWSDP) in 1915 and that she was immediately assigned to work at the party organization's disbursement office in Bucharest. The chapter discusses Pauker's arrest for Communist activity as Secretary of the Central Committee of the Red Aid (MOPR), her hunger strikes, and her sentencing to a maximum ten years in prison.
