The Agriculture Secretary
The Agriculture Secretary
This chapter examines the work of Ana Pauker as Agriculture Secretary. It explains that when the Social Democrats merged to create the Romanian Workers' Party, Pauker left her position at the party to become Secretary for Agriculture. The chapter discusses how this position led to her purging. The historical record shows that Pauker was accused of right-wing deviation, and of pursuing peasantist and anti-Leninist agrarian policies.
