Frogs and Toads
This chapter examines the identification, distribution, taxonomy, natural history, and geographic variation of frogs and toads found in Baja California. The frog and toad fauna consists of five families and four genera: the Bufonidae family (true toads), represented by the genus Bufo; Hylidae (treefrogs), represented by the genus Hyla; Ranidae (true frogs) represented by the genus Rana; and Pelobatidae (spadefoot toads), represented by Scaphiopus and Spea.
