This chapter describes the so-called personalistic police masculinity in Brazil. It explains that personalistic masculinity is one of the three modal masculinities of Brazilian violence workers and that personalistic police masculinity can be seen in the beat cop who presents himself as a passionate true believer in the cause of bettering society and protecting it from criminals. The chapter features representative examples of Brazilian violence workers with personalistic masculinity, and analyzes the relation between masculinity and violence.
