This chapter traces the evolution of two Galápagos Iguanas: the land iguana (Conolophus) and the marine iguana (Amblyrhynchus). Using mitochondrial ribosomal DNA (rDNA) analyses, it reinvestigates the phylogenetic relationships among the Iguanidae and estimates the separation time between the Galápagos lineages.

Keywords:   Galápagos Iguanas, Conolophus, Amblyrhynchus, phylogenetic relationships, Iguanidae
