This chapter explores evolutionary development studies of the molluscans. It reviews recent contributions of developmental studies to the understanding of the evolution of the diversity of molluscan body plans as well as the bearing of these findings on molluscan phylogenetics. It discusses the results of gene expression analyses and describes the morphogenesis of the molluscan nervous system, musculature, and shells.
