This concluding chapter presents future directions for research on California grassland species and ecosystems. Future research areas that might be particularly dynamic are those with applications to managing grasslands for the multiple values we gain from them. These include impacts of global environmental change on grassland ecosystems, the importance of genetics and species invasions to structural and functional change, and the development of techniques to restore native biodiversity or ecosystem functioning.
Keywords: grassland species, grassland ecosystems, environmental change, genetics, species invasions, native biodiversity
