Christianity as a Metalanguage of Inclusiveness
Christianity as a Metalanguage of Inclusiveness
This chapter takes a look at the style of Christianity that is practiced on SMX. The discussion is mostly concerned with the role of Christianity as a metalanguage that spans religious differences. It reveals that the general existing belief on the island is that no one occupies the moral high ground from which they can criticize the deeds of another person. The chapter also discusses how the tension between resolving the issue of belonging and the needs of the tourist industry was brokered by Christianity.
