This chapter focuses on the vulnerabilities that accompany migrant “illegality,” arguing that whereas, for unauthorized migrants, these vulnerabilities pivot on their “deportability,” for unauthorized migrant workers, they manifest in their “disposability.” Resistance to labor discipline is discussed and shown to be tied to Latino workers’ racialized resentment of African American workers.

Keywords:   illegality, disposability, unauthorized workers, labor discipline
