Prismatic Engagement: Latina/o and African American Workers’ Encounters in A Southern Meatpacking Plant
This concluding chapter summarizes the theoretical and empirical contributions of the book and offers an expanded analysis of the book’s main original analytic concept—“prismatic engagement”—as a useful conceptual tool for understanding social relations between subordinated groups that are mediated by whiteness in a system of race characterized by white dominance. The chapter proposes legal and policy shifts, interventions that could begin to improve and protect the working conditions and workplace rights of all workers.
