Robert Wyrod

This chapter foregrounds the links between the material, economic conditions that structure work in Bwaise and the ways in which masculinity is lived. This chapter provides an important starting point for understanding the contours of masculinity in this community. It also illuminates a central theme of this book: the deep intertwining of work and masculine sexual privilege during Uganda’s prolonged AIDS crisis.
